I picked up a Buick 300 today, which is based on the same architecture as the Rover V8/Buick 215. Heads and block are both iron instead of aluminum, and of course it's 300ci/4.9L.

This is me pershing a curiosity to see how much can be used in a Land Rover. At the very least heads should swap over which, in my mind, should be much more resistant to head gasket issues.

I'm curious what it would take to use a 300 whole but also retain the Bosch EFI setup. The CPS is, in my mind, going to be the hardest part requiring modification to the block, that is assuming the flexplate will bolt up and the bellhousing pattern is the same. I'm not sure about the flexplate, but I believe the bellhousing will work.

Anywho, I'll be keeping this up to date over in the Engine Swaps section if anyone is curious.

Also, goblin wife in the background.

D&D Engineering has a write up I think.

Well, just did the unthinkable. Bought another '00 Disco with frame rot to support my other '00. Has an overhauled lump from D&D with top-hat liners, about 80k on the overhaul with excellent oil pressure and no overheating. Also 4 near-new Cooper snow tires. Frame is beyond help but will be pulling engine and doing a full service on it. Also nice to have a core trans and t-case for when the time comes.

NEW LIGHTS. so the last set I tried for LED off road lights were a miserable failure. completely useless.

Asked santa for a new set for xmas. picked out these:
Amazon Amazon

I have had offroad lights for decades, hella, kc, various led sets. these are easily the brightest lights i have ever seen. truly awesome, they light up a country road with easily a 1200 foot usable visablilty, a pattern that lights the sides as well as way down the road.

I pulled the relay, easy fix, all other lighting functions still work. Cant say this will work for all discovery 2s but it worked on my 2004.

relay pulled in dash fuse box:
If you aren’t going to use your DRL lights, you can remove the DRL resistor from behind your LH headlight and sell it to someone who wants DRL on their Disco 2.
Get some bucks for it for more Disco parts. Lol

Installed new tie-rod bar and ends on the 03. Went well, took longer to pull it in the garage.

Thank you Lucky 8 for solid price and delivery.

I finished my gear alert. When I forget to put the gear shifter back into 'P' and I turn the ignition off an audio message is played until I put it back into 'P'. It is just a reminder for me, since sometimes I forget it (I have an aftermarket ignition lock without solenoid which allows to pull the key out in all positions).
