Parts finally arrived and started piling up so I figured id dig in since we got a break from the heat and its only 95 out.

Today I knocked a few things off the list.

New lower Rad hose.
Refit the inline thermostat kit from Extinct.
Trans mounts.
Up and Downstream O2 sensors.
Diy Y pipe job (minus cats for the moment) since my Catalytics were so kindly removed for me by the guy with a sawzall.
Spark plugs.
Plug wires as well since they basically fell apart during removal.
They sure did make those coil packs fun to reach.

Motor mounts next week.

Back to cruising code free. For now anyhow 😆

EDIT: Hit a pretty deep mid pit on the test drive.
Plowed right through as expected. Had to try a few more times for science, slower and slower. Bumpers deep on 33's. Crawled right through. Good times

 

I replaced my radiator today with a new unit from Atlantic British. 1st time doing the job and after watching several videos showing various methods of removal I dug in and struggled through it. Sure would like to meet the engineer who came up with such a convoluted attachment method. Talk about over thinking it. A couple of simple securing straps off the bonnet shut panel would have been fine. Attaching the oil cooler to the radiator seems ridiculous, and caused the most aggravation. Why not attach it to the A/C condenser which is far less likely to need removal. 🙄

I do not see the need to remove the air box and battery box, as is stated in the manual. Many folks here have confirmed it not to be necessary.

But...my blower motor decides to stop working today with a heatwave on the way this week...sigh

 

Having replaced 2 and removed both from both of my discos multiple times I've found that removing the airbox and battery box eliminates a huge amount of frustration with all those silly phillips head screws that are a pain to get to. Might be a tad slower but the frustration level is greatly reduced imo.

 

Final optimization for Uwharrie on Sunday. Tweaked the steering to get rid of the excess play. Also did a hot soak with sea foam. Had fun putting it in sport mode, stomping on it and running it up to 5k rpms. Purred like a lion!

Ready to make the 425 mile trip to Uwharrie. Got a few people from the forum joining in on Sunday. Ought to be a hoot!

Exactly. All we have down here is flatlands and mud bogs. I’ve watched some of the videos and while it’s not red cone or Moab, it’ll be good enough for now.

 

mmmm Red Cone and Moab...was going to run Wheeler Lake on Sunday but with the massive amount of rain expected this weekend we're going to not run there. Granite, large notches and boulder plus rain is a combo I can do without. Going to go run Middle St. Vrain/Coney Flats instead which should only get more epic with a bunch of rain. Will run Red Cone later this summer and at least 1 trip to moab this fall/winter.
