Default Rebuilt ujoints & rear driveshaft upgrade conversion

Finally got this last major work done by the shop. Ordered the rear driveshaft conversion to get rid of the rubber damper. Vibration on acceleration gone! And all ujoints have serviceable zerks ☺️

Rear drive shaft upgrade conversion removing damper design

Front half of rear shaft going to transfer case (serviceable ujoints!)

Rebuilt from shafts with 1310 ujoints ☺️

When l had a bad 02 on my old 03, stripped threads and took a couple days to get a tap, had it plugged off, right bank +25% constant...anyhow...it got about 11.5 mpg...painful...lol.

Checked the mileage on the 04 the last two tanks...getting around 15.5 mpg. Actually pretty happy with that.
Indeed, that is the normal operation, I cannot explain why this one is different. Your reply got me curious so I grabbed so data thus morning while running errands. Not sure I fully trust the torque app but it normally reports fuel trim issues.

You can see from the photos the 02s are dead, fuel trims are locked at zero.

Interesting, it's like the ECM is not receiving or sending data required...but it runs fine. You may have just discovered the best way to make a Dll run...but we don't know how it's doing it...lol. Weird.

Another weird thing...you've already been running errands this morning...and l'm still working on my first pot of coffee. I think l've got to get in touch with a motivational speaker or something...lol.

I actually did stumble upon the best way to run a D2 here a few months back. I was chatting with a guy in South Africa who was buying one of the in line kits and he informed me that the South African petrol trucks never came with oxygen sensors because they only had leaded fuel and so the ECU program for those trucks is mass air flow only. I know my guy at EuRover in Greenville South Carolina was able to flash my ECu with whatever year model I wanted because I've changed a 2003 ecu to running one of my 00 without SAI. I assume he could Flash in a South African ECU program and viola no more oxygen sensors

Now that I am thinking about it, I wonder if the ECU is defaulting to that setting because all 4 oxygen sensors are dead? I know it does that if you unplug them

Went out and had a bit of fun yesterday on a whim. I was alone, trail was empty, didn't even have my winch. I played it safe most of the day, but I did hit one hole I had been through quite a few times before.

Well I didn't take into account that my CDL is out right now and almost got myself into a pickle. Captured on video. Here are a few shots from the day!

Small river crossing. Water was way down. Sometimes when it has been raining, water will splash over your hood.

Wheel shot.

Dog getting muddy.

Washing the dog before she gets back in the truck.

Almost stuck. Definitely had an "oh crap" moment.

Nothing but drive the heck out of both of them. Seriously contemplating dropping the green disco down to stock height and tire size as it's turned into much more of a daily. Plus the classic could use the suspension that's in it. It desperately needs a quick refresh and I don't feel like buying new stuff.
