There's one that I never even see mentioned that's a joke all on its own -- the Lada Niva. All the power of a Prius, with the build quality of a Trabant and the reliability of an '80s Alfa Romeo.

You may be giving it too much credit comparing its reliability to an 80’s Alfa

Default May not sound like much...

But...did two oil changes and lubes on the 03 and 04.

03 had 800 to go, but since l was into it...

04 was 4K over, yeah, l've been bad...but...been battling tendinitis and arthritis for the last three months. Hands are about useless and most times look like boxing gloves...until about a day or so ago. Had to use a three foot, half inch drive breaker bar on oil plug. Not that it was tight, l'm just as weak as a baby.

As you can imagine...the defender has been sitting with the engine in a hundred pieces...still. l believe someone here jinxed me...when they said "it must be nice to be able to rebuild the defender engine yourself"...four months later, l'm seriously thinking of boxing up parts and trailering the 110 somewhere to make repairs...lol.

Oh yeah, washed both of the Dll's also.

Default Brakes

After replacing my abs pump, I think my 4 amigos are gone. Knock on wood. Hooked up a wire to the abs relay, the wires need to go in the middle slot and the single slot btw.

Bleeding was quick, and brakes are nice and firm now hopefully my codes stay away now.

Went and paid 150.00 to have 4 tires removed & 4 mounted and balanced. Got home after noticing a little bit of vibration at 75MPH and looked at each wheel & to my amazement not a SINGLE weight is anywhere to be seen....... Dunno if that's this particular tire shops way of making you buy new tires sooner or they've got one hell of a tech but the chances of 4 275/65R18 Goodyear Duratrac's not requiring a single weight is like winning the 1,000,000,000,000,000,000.00 lotto with a 1.00 ticket. I am going to stop by my local tire shop (who I usually use but they aren't open on Sundays and have them verify if the tires are balanced). If they aren't I will be going back by the other tire shop with my receipt and demanding they pay the bill......

Discovered that my Dorman fan is beginning to crack at the base and my coolant expansion tank is wearing at the seam and seaping a little coolant. Both are less than 3 years old. Getting a warranty fan this week and ordered a new expansion tank. I'm really getting tired of junk parts. Easy fixes, but annoying.

3 years is WAY better than the darn aftermarket fan that barely lasted 2 weeks on my D1 when it totally blew up after an oil change. Lucky I had no damage minus a small dent in the hood, but yes no part seem to last forever these days.

Got a stock fan. PM me if you’re interested. Just pay shipping.

Have you checked on the inside of the wheel?

I ordered a replacement under warranty. I prefer the HD fan clutch setup. Thanks anyway!
