What did you do with your DII today?
#8801
Huge HUGE thanks to mln_01 who pulled a set of Kalahari wheels out of the junk yard for me and held them for two weeks until I could get down to him and pick them up. He took his own time and a not insignificant amount of effort to no benefit of his own. Finally met up with him today to reimburse him and pick up the wheels. Super friendly guy, glad I got to meet and chat with him for a while.
Thanks brother! Can't wait to get these mounted.

My pleasure, Alex, and it was great to meet you too.
Actually, maybe it wasn't all my pleasure. It was actually a good bit of work. But like you, I didn't want to see them go to the crusher.
We harvested a good deal of the special stuff off this Kalahari. You got the wheels. (Four of them anyway; I still can't figure out why just the left front was gone before I got there. The lugnuts are there still, on the ground.). I got the Safarigard rock sliders, although I bought them from another guy who got there before Ken and I did. Ken got the Land Rover Special Vehicles plate from the front bulkhead and mailed it to Best4x4. And I got the hard to find auxiliary light switch.
We don't see DIIs in the boneyards here very often anymore. It's good to see that members of this community got a few goodies from this one.

I didn't break out the fly rods this trip, didn't have much time and I still need to figure out how to get my rodholder (so nice to have rods rigged and ready to go with no setup/breakdown) on the side of the rack with the tent. The alpine lakes usually fish well and then the headwaters for the animas river are around Silverton and that fishes better and better towards durango. Can't spell the river name near Ridgeway but that fishes well I've heard as well.

Finally had time to replace the hood release cable, then I did a nice 5 hour - 400km (250 Miles) drive to mid BC and then returned used about 20 gal each way, considering all the 7 -12% long grades in sport mode the Disco did well on fuel.
Temps were decent 183 - 186 on the flats - 186 to 203 on the hills ambient was about 90 F / 32 C ran about 100 110 km 60 -65 mph most of the time.
