What is the factory gear ratio? What about the transfer case? Mine already turns some pretty high RPM with 32" tires.

high gear in t-case is 1.2 and diffs are 3.54. You could go to 3.75 for 32-33 but for the money/time probably worth dealing with the rpms. Charts or GBR will say 4.11s for 33s but I just can't see that working well. Best option imo for 32-33 is to find a 1.4 high gear set for the t-case, that with factory diffs would be about perfect. Can run an older defender t-case as some came with the 1.4 but they don't have the all the ports for the sensors to plug into.

Interesting. In my case I don't see the need for gearing any lower unless it was making low range lower. I actually got bigger tires to lower my rpm on the highway. I'd have gone bigger if I thought it would have fit in the garage.
I understand if it's to gain some power back with bigger tires, but turning 3500rpm( a guess) on the highway constantly sounds not extremely fun. I guess of your exhaust is quite maybe you wouldn't really tell.

Currently on 33s with the intent to move to 35s when these wear out, but I also plan to pull a small camper and I'm loaded down with family and gear.

Did 7 days 1700 km or about 1056 miles, about 800 off road zero issues other than one heater hose clamp vibrating loose. Highest temp 199 in the 1st image on about a 12% grade at 7200 ft idling for 10 minutes. This is Perkins Peak in BC, there were 10 LR's in total, but only my Disco. I will try to post more later this week

Outstanding! That's a magazine cover photo right there. I understand that the covid vaccine ban on travelers is going to expire at the end of this month so my plan is to rollover a the week of vacation I have left this year so I can do a proper 3 week tour to BC. Banff is a bucket list place for me so the plan is to hit the National Park on the way there or back. Its going to be a long drive from Texas!

Do Banff on the way there. It’s going to be winter on that side of the Rockies pretty soon. October should be good (definitely autumn) for most of southern BC. Of course if you want to ski wait until the New Year.

Haven't had much time lately to get out camping but scored a last minute spot in Yosemite valley so wife and I took the truck up to get some R&R. 99% pavement and a little bit of dirt road but it was nice to get out away from SF. It was a bit of a shake down trip for the disco after installing 4.12 gears and lockers. Took awhile to get through the break in miles and this was the first trip with fresh fluid in the diffs. Truck felt great climbing the hills at mild altitude (6k ft or so) and 80-90F in the central valley with A/C running seemed to not faze it too much. Seems like the truck runs around 186-188 cruising at 70mph on the freeway. Picks up to 193ish or so on uphills and get to 200 when its 90F out on long climbs. Hopefully a flowkooler pump and Alisport rad should help add some more headroom to the temps but hot weather in CA is coming to an end so not much to worry about until at least april next year ha! Either way, the truck has earned itself a wash and its due for an oil change soon.

I installed a flokooler and have the allisport radiator and it did not change the temps. Personal experience dont waste the money.

Temperature is restricted by the thermostat as well. If you didn't replace it, temps won't change much.
