Last day/late night thrash to get "ready" for URE tomorrow. Got my diffs in, but the air system isn't wired and I'm missing a couple fittings. We also had to get my buddies bumper (left) built so he had front recovery points.
I'm dealing with some motor issues, throwing a code for valve timing error so I'm trailering down in case of a failure.
Not as prepared as we'd like to be, but should be a fun weekend none the less!
Got about an hour and a half into the trail ride today and my buddy lost his rear diff we welded up a few months ago. I brought my spare stockers I had just pulled out. We got him back to camp, we got it swapped out, and went back out for about another hour and a half so far.
Spent the weekend at the Hill Country Rover Rally at Hidden Falls Adventure Park. It was a blast to see and wheel with so many different Land Rovers and Range Rovers. There was at least 100 different vehicles out there. Probably more.
Drove about 200 miles round trip this weekend (Birmingham, AL to Decatur, AL, then Pulaski, TN, Area, then back). Took the family (wife + 6 month old) to my in laws, and brought my dirtbike on the hitch receiver as well. Got to both ride the dirtbike and do some light off roading in the Disco on Saturday in Southern Tennessee.
Brought a big load of firewood back home as well. Only possible due to the massive amount of space in the back of the Disco.
I did a 75 mile round trip on Thursday this week as well. The Disco has been a real family work horse since I bought it. Really enjoying packing on the miles.
I’ve had this brush bar for about a year now. Finally got it sandblasted, then cut off the brush bar, filled the low points and imperfections from the welds, and then painted with high build primer and flat black rust oleum. Installed it today with the help of a buddy. It is a bit tweaked but it’s pretty unnoticeable unless you start to look at it a little harder. Winch and aluminum fairlead to come shortly.
New here and to Land Rovers. Just bought a 2003 w/110k miles, with a newly rebuilt engine and transmission. The first thing I did was put in a 180 degree thermostat to replace the stock thermostat that was running high 190s and up to 204 idling in traffic. When I pulled the original thermostat off, it had a rubber seal or something dangling inside. Using blue European coolant. In the test drive it held 185-190 driving backroads, and got up to 194 while idling in traffic. Do these seem like normal numbers, or should I be looking elsewhere to keep temps lower? Radiator is a Nissens, replaced 20k miles ago.
