Default Drove it + regular maintenance

I daily drive my 03’ DII. I’ve put about 10,000 miles on it in the past 18 months or so. I’ve gone anywhere and everywhere, hauling family, my dirtbike, towing racecars on occasion, you name it.

When I bought the truck from the previous owner I knew it was sitting a little low on the original suspension, but after the 10k miles I’ve put it on the suspension had finally given up the ghost. We’ll severed, 20 years and 130k miles.

I replaced the shocks and springs this past week with OEM replacement parts, and man am I happy with it. I added the D1 spring perch in the rear, and now my ride heigh is about 1.5 inches taller than on the old shocks and springs and the ride quality is totally restored. I was hesitate decided between the common 2 inch lift route and OE replacement stuff, but seeming as though I don’t need the ride height for any reason I’m super happy with the OE replacement. Springs weren’t cheap but I bought a set of KYB shocks from a forum member and my local independent shop charged me $546 in labor for the job, plus diagnosing and fixing a vacuum leak and exhaust leak.

Luckily my buddy at the shop let’s me bring my own parts which is rare, and I wouldn’t allow customers to do if I owned a shop! All in the full upgrade cost about $1100.

Next up I think it’ll be time for a steering damper, tie rode ends, and the other suspension bits and bobs that are looking tired.

In the meantime, I’m pumped to keep piling the miles on!

try cleaning the drain tube underneath. It is a rubber hose near the trans, it can get plugged up and overfills. Or if the drains are broken you can epoxy them back together. If you pull down the headliner, you could fix the mesh pockets.

Run a hose in the sunroof tray and see where the water goes

I'll try underneath. The rear sunroof doesn't work so I don't think I can get access to the drains without dropping the headliner. Or can I? I'm just learning about Discos, but I very familiar with leaking sunroofs thanks to my 4Runner.

@YETIX, I feel your pain. My '04 decided to spring a few leaks this winter that I will need to address ASAP.

This being the second time in 5 years I’ve had to refinish my Disco 2 fender flares I decided I might be better off just removing them altogether.
Removal was easier this time, since I’ve had them off before, but it’s the tape residue that’s a bitch to remove.
I’ll live with one side on and one side off for a bit and make the final decision. At least if their off, it’ll be easier to sand and refinish.

My drain was broken but I was able to use a bic pen (cut to size) to epoxy into place and it works.

if paint is good beneath flares then 100% better looking without flares imo. Took them off both of mine.

There's a 3M product that makes removing the adhesive "easy". I don't recall what it is. Maybe someone here will chime in.
