What's your Disco2's "heart" sound like?
 

On another thread, senior forum member "94svt50" posted a recording of the ticking/tapping noises his motor makes...

Until I changed my head gaskets, I hadn't paid attention to what my engine sounded like. This being my first V8, and the only DiscoII engine I ever hear, I don't have a baseline reference for what it's supposed to sound like etc... I don't know the difference between the sound of an engine that "purrs" and one that has a "slight tick" etc etc etc....

Any chance anyone else could post a recording of what their Disco sounds like? Does yours purr? Does yours have a tick from a worn tappet or some other engine sound? etc etc?

I'll record and post my engine some time today.

the racket your 4.6 is making will drown out my zen like engine purr.

Here is mine for you. 00 with 120K. Right after a cold start. As a note, at end end an icicle dropped into the fan :)

Also to note on mine above that especially on the 1st video, the mic seems to be picking up a lot of noise. In person, you don't hear as much of the other noise.

Sounds exactly like mine. How long has been doing this?

my engine sounds suercharged... idk why but it sounds different from any other discovery ive ever heard
