RE: Where is the oil filter?

Just brought our 2000 Disco home from the dealer tonight. Lots to learn, lots to learn.

If this engine is an engine then yes, dab some clean oil around the seal of the oil filter, fill it with oil (if it stays vertical when installed) and hand tighten 1/4 turn after the gasket touches.

I haven't seen my oil filter yet either. I'm still trying to figure out how to get the CD carrier out of the mechanism. Good place to put it,under the passenger seat [sm=smiley24.gif].

You only tighten the oil filter to hand tight; about 2/3 of a turn after it seats to the engine. The filter wrench is only used when taking a filter off. The filter on the 03 is nder a cover (at least mine is). There is a round disc that unscrews from the cover and the filter sits right above that. It is about 2 feet forward of the oil pan.

Thanks!

Still fighting with the CD magazine. Disassembled everything and got it out but the changer with an empty magazinestops on tray 2 and can't return it to the left. Nothing obvious wrong. Ideas?
