Who buys good shape Disco II for salvage?

I'm calling it quits on my Kent Green 2001 Discovery II with 103K miles and looking for suggestions on how to sell it.

Work done: Ball joints, head gaskets, water pump, timing chain, timing gears, fan clutch, new tires--engine runs great.

Problem: After finally getting the leaks stopped, I discover the block is cracked. Unwilling to pay for long block--shop quoted $4K, but done with this journey.

Thanks to all who have provided advice on previous posts.

Appreciate any advice to get rid of it.

Thanks

I don't know of anyone down in FL, but up here in the Northeast, Paul Grant does.

Thanks for the info. Guess if price is right I would ship.

Shipping would cost about what the truck is worth.

There is a used Rover parts seller in the Miami area. I can't remember their name so you'll have to google them.

4K seems rather $$$$ to me. Heck you should be able to find a wrecked D2 on CL with a good engine for cheap or get a complete 4.6L out of a RR/D2off of Ebay for around 1200.00 shipped.

Thanks for the mention Hamal but you know what I pay for these trucks.

Even if you're not up to it or have run out of enthusiasm I hope someone else buys it and puts a good used engine in it. I hate to see otherwise nice trucks dismantled for wont of an engine or trans, etc.

I don't know how it is in your part of the country but here in the northeast there are ten DII's for sale with bad motors for every one that is still good (and even then I suspect that one). I have someone who posted here on LRF and all the other sites as well looking for a good shortblock to save his early DII. He's been looking for months. The fact is that engine failure is an awfully common reason for these trucks being sold. As a result, picking up a DII with a blown engine, regardless of how nice the truck may look, is a $500-$1000 proposition. If the truck is mobile you can at least check the transmission, transfer case, ect to see if they are behaving. If the truck is immobile, regardless of what the seller says, you're buying on blind faith. That means it's no more than a $500 truck.
