wierd rpm issue .... gun in mouth .. pull trigger ..(updated with codes)
 

ok i have a 2003 disco hse .. ( not one of the ****ed up ones with a bad block).

couple weeks ago when it was super cold, my battery went dead. no biggy.

then last week i noticed when i went around corners, the engine seemed to stall for a half second or less. not sure how to explain if ... like if you hummed the letters :

hmmmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

and the skip would be where the missing m's are. It also would not shift to 3rd gear until the engine got a little warm, that was weird. I figured it as because it was cold. It was like 15 degrees, and it never gets that low in Dallas, so i figured maybe my disco was confused lol.

Then last weekend I changed the breaks (nothing to do with this issue) .. on the way home my CHECK ENGINE LIGHT came on, and my rpms went weeeeeeeeeeeee .. like up to 5000 rpm then down to normal for my speed .. and then back up a couple ore times.

I think the car lost a little power also. Not sure. It started doing that stalling for a half second while i was driving ... then i parked it ... and I will take it to auto zone this next weekend so get the codes ...

if anyone knows of an issue off the top of your head and can point me in the right direction .. that be rad ... with that and then the codes .. i should know where to start ..

Not sure what the codes are for, but someone will decifer what those mean pretty quickly here......

In the mean time, I would check the transmission fluid level with the vehicle/fluid warmed up and running while checking. Some of your symptoms sound like they could be related to the transmission fluid level.

I believe those codes have to do with the MAF and O2 sensors. The MAF my be starting to fail...Make sure you replace it with a quality OE replacement. If you buy a cheap one, you'll have to replace it again within the year.

As for the O2 sensors, It just recently replaced all 4 of mine...here's the info...

I have the similar code, did your "service engine soon" light go off (after you had the O2-sensors installed and cleared the codes?) Please advice, and how long did it take you to complete the procedure? Cheers

I don't have any RPM issues, although, my paranoia does lead me to feel the truck is idling (or shaking a bit)-- maybe I'm over thinking this. But having said that, I do feel it's my O2-sensors (I have 95k on my 2004-- should I explain it?)
