Wire Harness?

I have a 2004 Land Rover Discovery and was wondering where i could get the wiring harness for the trailer kit. Can anyone local place install it? like Uhaul or does it need to be installed by the land rover dealer? Is there any splicing of wires needed or can it be done by someone who is some what competent....

Thanks.
Alex

RE: Wire Harness?

i would have an rv dealer check the situation. Some of the on-line parts suppliers may carry what you need and it "may" be a diy thing. there is a list on the search section of online parts suppliers. give it a look. hope it helps. gotta love a rover. duboff

RE: Wire Harness?

I ran into the same problem a while back. I found that the wiring harness you buy from the dealer runs about $180. Or you can go to roverparts.com and get it for $99.95. An even cheaper option is to take it to a trailer place and the will charge you any where from $40-$70 to install a generic one that requires splicing. The other 2 options are plug and play.

RE: Wire Harness?

I am a master land rover tech. Behind the right tailamp is a white plug with a cover on it. Remove the taillamp find the plug and buy a factory harness it just plugs in. a few wire ties and about 1 hour work later (to make it presentable), and boom trailer harness. $79.00 dollar part.
hope this helps scott
