x-mas travel trip?

ok i just had the misfortune to drive straight thru from seattle area to indianapolis. 2533 miles with out stopping for anything other than fuel - during the snow storm we just had.

not fun

time 59 hours
distance 2533 miles
four adults and one 8 week old lab puppy.
cost: one idler pulley ($26 at random napa auto store somewhere in BFE iowa) and my windshield wipers stabbed each other (i will post pic later - gotta see it to believe it)

who else has taken a holiday trip this year?

MERRY CHRISTMAS

We are doing the standard trip that we do every year.
Christmas day we are taking the Volvo to Traverse City to visit the in-laws. 272 miles round trip.

Sunday we are taking the Rover to my moms cottage in Grayling coming back on Monday.
Going to take the kids sledding and if all goes I well will have a new youtube vid to put up.
320 miles round trip.
Last year we did both trips in two days with the Rover.

I did a few trips last automn, a few were 4 hour drives, and one was 16 hours with about 4 in the mountains during an early winter storm. Really had me become one with the truck and showed me that all the hard work to make it in as good as new condition has really paid off and I can really trust it to do what ever I ask of it.

I will make the trip from my house to the parents with my wife and 2 year old. This is about 2 miles, round trip :)
We will also make the trip to her parents which is about 50 miles, round trip.

So. we don't have to travel much. This will all be done in the Rover.

im going up to ski brule today. unforunetly the rover is at the dealer getting the, transfer case, blinker switch, heater/ac blower, and passanger lumber replaced. (UNDER 100K MILE WAREENTE ! :D). but, its not to bad, we have a 08 volvo s80 AWD, sweedish modern is almost as good as british rugged. the service manger was nice enough (after i did some brown nosing) to reaplce everything that was going bad, instead of stuff just gone bad.

No, those are the cottages for the rich. My mom's is alot more humble, I will take a pic and post it on Mon after we get home.
It is a modest 3 bedroom 2 bath with a 2 stall garage, a crawl space and less than a acre of land.
BUT...it buts up against Federal land which is the air gunnery range for the Ait National Guard, it is much fun to watch them pratice.
