Yeah, no more waiting six weeks for a new ignition switch
Ok LR likes to make you wait six weeks for a new ignition switch in the event yours on your disco two stops working. Price is high but so what. Its the time that it takes to get the damn thing. Well good news, with a smart and well qualified locksmith you can replace the key bits and be done. Just get a key code from the dealer and get them to make the lock the same way.
We didn't know if it was gonna work but gave it shot and low and behold it worked.
oh and to get the switch off easy to get the steering moved use a long chisel to move the shear bolts and unlosen them. Then take them off and the steering moves. On that note pull off the upper and lower cowl to access the damn thing and then pull off the connector from the fuse box and take it to a reputable locksmith.
I say reputable because a cheap locksmith may damage it and leave you screwed so its either six weeks or six hours and good job.
