Could you ram a new 4.2 supercharged v8 in there?

That for discos as well? Do I need a ECU from the donor vehicle with the 4.6 if I go that route or can I slap in a superchip?

RE: engine swap

you can use your existing heads and ecu and bolt up a 4.6. I think you have to shave the front cover and a few other things, but you can use a 4.6 on a 4.0 system. Check out this link.......

Yeah, be thankful you're not trying to add a bigger engine to a new vehicle. Oh the pain.

No. When one switches from a 3.5/3.9/ 4.2 to a 4.6/ 4.0, a spacer will be required at the crankshaft bolt and a special plug (or something you can fashion yourself) to close opening to the flywheel. The only other thing for fitting to watchout for is your sump, whch will need a couple of whacks with a ballpean hammer in front or ther crank will not clear, test with plastercine to find where. You must use a cam lube for start-up and a high level of zddp oils for the first 1000 miles.

However, in the end, you will be aggravating the problem that caused the failure shown on the link above unless you remap your fueling with a Tornado chip and/or buy one of the new comcast blocks.
