New Disco II, New Problems: Coolant Shavings?

1 Attachment(s)
Hello all,

I'm a first time Disco II owner, having recently bought what I considered a low mileage 2004. After having it for just a few days, I've noticed some things that need attention. The heads need work, which is not a problem, but I wanted to run something I haven't seen before past you guys and gals.

When Topping off coolant today, I noticed "sparkles." They are incredibly small, like something you might see in an ostentatious makeup. I'm guessing they are from a worn out water pump? Below is a picture of how dense the shavings are ... a large drop from the cap of the coolant reservoir.

Aside from the engine and the electronics, I'm loving this vehicle. Any help would be great. Thanks!

Sorry for posting in wrong subforum... This is my first post to this site!

looks like previous owner put some stop leak in the system. Mine had that also, and I flushed the system. It was probably leaking and that was his or her fix.
