2008 lr3 se

My 2008 LR3 SE with about 160,000 miles brake down on my Monday.

I towed it to a repair shop. They have not done any real diagnostics other than just starting the car up.

He called and said it sounds like a new engine is in order.

My first thought is to scrap it.

Thoughts?
