2004 Freelander Sunroof Stuck in Tilt
My 2004 Freelander sunroof is stuck in the tilt position. I've read every forum on the subject on this sight and no one seems to have the exact issue I do. Hopefully you all can help.
The motor runs but it isn't raising or lowering the sunroof. When looking at the front of the car the right side of the sunroof will go all the way down (if I press on it) but the left will not. I went to try to manually close it but the allen key hole is stripped into a perfect circle. I can't get anything to grip it. I just need to get the sunroof shut and I'll never bother with it again. Any suggestions? |
Try pushing forward as you push down, with a helper pressing the switch. Spray with a light coating of lube such as WD-40 first. The sun roof must be fully forward before the locks release the tilt motion.

So I got the right side to go all the way down. The left side lowered a little and then the motor started making a clicking noise. Now the motor wont move the window in either direction.

The rapid clicking noise is the clutch. Try pushing it open as someone operates the switch. The biggest problem is lack of use, and the slides, gear train get stiff from sitting still. It takes a bit of effort, but again use some spray lubricant and keep working the window.
