60K mile service question....

Hey guys whats going on... Ive got a 2002Freelander SE and and its rapidly approaching the 60K mile mark.

My check engine light has been an everyday thing for a little while now, hell, even my battery light comes on.
Anyways, can any of you guys tell me what the 60K service will consist of ecactly and also, would it be an issue if i decided to break the service up into a priority kind of thing?

If i cant and it is a must that i get it all done at once, well, then so be it!

Its just that i bought it from an upstanding used car dealership and called them to get a quote.... they quoted me at just over $400 for parts+labor.
Now, on the other hand, i called one of my really good friends who is a mechanic at Land Rover(Anahiem Hills) and he quoted me at over $600 for parts+labor.

Do you think there will be a difference in the work... besides the obvious fact that the smartest thing to do would be to just take it to my friend at Land Rover?

Anyways, if you can help, it would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks!

It's the timing belt right? I would have it done and have LandRover do the work.

the 60k really is an oil engine, trans fluid change (very important) , spark plugs, coolant hoses to be looked at, rear drums to be looked and adjusted, pollen filter (if it wasn't done at 48k )
the timinge belts on the rover don't need to be changed until 72 k miles which is the next service they have two belts.... good luck

RE: 60K mile service question....

My Manual says to use Texico N402 or the equivalent in my Jatco automatic gearbox. What's equivalent?

Is Castrol? What are my choices when I go to Auto Zone for fluid?
