chattering

Hey guys I'm new here. My name is Toby and I'm having some chatter coming from the engine. Is there any common issues for the freelanders. It's a 04 with 42k miles. Thanks Toby

to start with, yes there are several common problems with freelanders... that said, it sounds like you have bad vis linkage. its for the power valves in youre upper intake that open to allow a shorter intake runner at higher rpms. its a pretty high dollar repair if it need a whole plenum, not too bad if its just vis motors. get it checked out

Thanks roverguy! If the its the VIS motors is there a repair or replace procedure. How much does the motor run. would i try replacing the power valve motor or the balance valve motor. Could it possibility have a warranty still. Thanks again! Toby.

just saw the year and milage... and the only way itd still be in is if by some chance it was orriginally sold new in 2005, it happened, but not very often at all... call the dealer and give them the last 8 of your VIN, theyll tell you... also, just so you know, you have at least one open recall. just came out with one for the fuel pump.
