Driver door window regulator

Hello enthusiasts!

I have a 2003 LR Freelander TD4. The driver's window stopped working a short while ago, having finally had the time to take it apart and have a look it turns out the cabling had sheared and basically rendered itself useless. The motor is fine. Is it possible/wise to replace just the cabling or should I replace the whole thing, motor and all?

I know when you buy the whole thing it (hopefully) comes fully assembled. To save costs, is it simple enough to buy everything just the cabling and replace it all myself?

Any help appreciated!

Thanks

Hi
Just finished rebuilding the rear window regulator in my 02. You can buy the rebuild kit on ebay for less than $20. They all ship from the UK or Turkey so takes a while to arrive. No instructions with mine, but relatively simple to figure out how it works and install. The tricky part is winding the wires around the pulley. The cable was about 3/4" too short on mine so had to cut the outer sheath to fit. Got mine from Turkey - will try the UK supplier next time. After you do one, the next time will be a breeze. These break on a regular basis so you can save a lot my doing yourself.
Mike
