Freelander door handle and internal lock button...

I need some help; my exterior handle on rear driver's side won't open the door immediately after the car's unlocked as the internal lock button stays down...
I have tried stripping the door but can't get to the mechanism, I have saturated the area in wd40 just in case it was sticking...no good.
It opens from the inside door release handle, that frees the lock button. Locking the car starts the process again, and again.
It's not a serious drama but it's a pain. Anyone know what I could do (except forking out a bomb?)?
Thanks very much,
Scottiedoo.

it is a pain especially when im loading the kids in mine. i aint got round to fixing my back door yet which has exactly the same problem cos ive had and am still having more serious problems with mine(keeps mis-firing and cutting out right now). i suspect though that the solenoid that operates the lock is only working one way for whatever reason. it could be a complete lock mechanism with the solenoid built in which would mean the easiest way to fix it would be by installing another unit, which would mean stripping the door down. it could be as simple as the wiring not on properly and has come loose due to the constant closing action of the door! if you do fix it before i do, let me know and likewise!
