heather core removal procedure.
 

I have a 2002 Freelander LHR and I need a new heather core. Does some one have a step by step procedure handy. I was told that I have to remove the complete dashboard but the labor manual give you only 5 hours to do the work.
I hope some one here will be able to help.

OK, not too much help here up to now, I have all the bolts (that I found) from the dash out but some thing is holding it in the middle left and right. it is very loose but will not move apart from the windshield. Instruments, air bags, steering wheel, central console, are all out. the bolts that I found securing the dash were behind instrument panel and passenger air bag. under far left and right and behind the clock and bottom of the central console. Any other one?
I forgot, how do you slide out the combination switch from the steering colum? I removed the bottom screw but some thing id holding still.


The dash is completely loos, I had a left and right bolt behind the A post.
I still have to find out how the combination switch comes out and how to remove the connectors behind.

I guess not too many people on this forum. I have the dash out and the heater core out. If you ever need help, just contact me and I will explain.

I have been out of town for a few days. I just did this repair on my 2002 last week and it was a beast. It took me almost 2 full days to complete the job.

So you really need to remove f......n dashboard.I have bad smell inside teh car and I guess heater core is bad is there anything that you can put in the coolant that can seal it?

I just had my third heater core done at the dealer. $450 for core and predetermined 8 hours labor at $128 per hour!
