07 HSE trans complete fail

Thanks for your note, Rovin4life. Contractually, they may not be obligated for anything. However, I am routinely asked about my RR, and experiences with the dealer. From now on, I will be obligated to tell friends:
1. The transmission failed completely at 76,000 miles;
2. The dealership never responded when advised twice of the problem;
3. The dealership failed to properly fulfill warranty repairs during late stages of the warranty;
4. The LR USA contact was combative, rude and caustic.
I don't know what their margin is on a $77,000 sale, but their poor reaction will cost them much, much more than the $9,000 repair cost of the transmission.

Either way... the transfer case is pretty cheap (in the grand scheme of RR MKIII). $2350 for a rebuilt one at roverland parts, but less than $1000 for used at Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market.
The transmission is high, $3600 for rebuilt, but you might be able to find a used one if you shop around, or better yet, they might be able to replace the output shaft on your existing one.

Customer service departments seem to ignore the fact that customers who can purchase their product, at any price range, usually circulate with others with similar income and status. And at this level, many of these heavy hitters and rain makers have to also be road warriors from time to time. And none of them want SWMBO to go on the warpath (or the wrecker) when they are waging distant battles. Word of mouth at this level carries some considerable weight with others considering such a purchase.

Theres two sides to every story, and I've only heard one side. As a Land Rover "Enthusiast" with 6 posts on this forum I'm geussing you never had a problem with your transmission until it went, or you would have posted something 1 year and 20,000 miles ago. ....And if you did have a problem, it was a problem that occured out of warranty, and the repair was declined. You could have purchased an extended warranty from one of many companies, but chose not to. You got 4yrs and 50000 mile of warranty coverage. What's $9000.00 in the grand scheme of things when you can afford a $77,000 truck..

Resolution. After no response from LR Bham, and poor response from LRNA, contacted Tata and CEO of Jaguar/LR England. England office researched, contacted LRNA, who then agreed to pay for majority of repair, > $6,000. Driving RR again; fair resolution. Pays to remain steadfast. For the guy who said "cheap whiner" and the other who said "what's $9,000 if you can afford $77,000", just wow. To the others, thanks for your input and support.
