2011 RRS Transmission Fault
I recently bought a used 2011 RRSS with 72,000 miles on it. I've put about 2,000 miles on it. I am concerned that on several occasions I have been at a stop -- either having just started the vehicle or stopped at an intersection -- with the transmission in Drive, and when I've given it some gas the vehicle does not move. Some times it does not move for a few seconds and then "catches" and behaves normally, and in other cases I've moved the selector to M/S and the vehicle starts moving.
I called the dealer to ask about this and was told some bushing is probably catching, it happens, was it cold (yes), try moving it into M/S, Sports of this vintage do this . . . Honestly, if it never got any worse, I'd say nor problem, but this seems like an expansive use of "normal". Today it happened again and the vehicle indicated a "Transmission Fault" warning. I'm taking the vehicle into the dealer tomorrow to ask them to sort it out -- i have 1,000 remaining miles on the warranty. Anyone have any insights? How typical is this? Does it get progressively more serious? |
Took the vehicle into the dealer and they replaced a shifter linkage that apparently can cause this behavior if it gets corroded. We'll see. Very happy with the dealer covering this under the warranty.
