99 range rover with p0722 and p0500 code need help please
 
hello , guys i need some help please i bought this 99 rover for cheap the owner said it needs a tranny sensor the xyz switch , he said the tranny failed when the throttle body start leaking anitfreeze from the gasket... well i boughtthe rover fix every thing except the transmission , im stock with these 2 codes the p0722 saying output shaft sensor no circut and the p0500 speed sensor but dont know which one , after researching about the p0722 the sensor its behind the valve body in the pan u have to drop the pan to change it , but not sure thats the problem, WELL WHATS ITS DOING ALL THE SHIFT INDICATION I HAVE ON THE DASH CLUSTER AND ON SHIFTER PLUS SPORT OPTION TURNS ONN , I HAVE REVERSE BUT NO D,3,2,1 ITS LIKE U SITTING IN NEUTRAL AND GIVE IT THROTTLE IT WONT MOVE WHAT I SHOULD DO AND WHERE TO START TO FIND THE PROBLEM PLEASE HELP STEER ME THE RIGHT WAY I BEEN DONE REALLY WRONG BY ALL THESE MECHANICS HERE IN TOWN THEY ARE VERY SORRY , JUST WANA MAKE SOME MONEY AND CANT FIND THE PROBLEM , I KNOW SOOME ONE IN THIS FORUMS IS SMART ENOUGH TO HELP US OUT OR SOMEONE HAVE THE SAME ISSUES AND THERE ARE GOOD KNOLEG PEOPLE IN THIS FORUMS PLEASE CAN ANYONE HELP THANKS & GOD BLESS.....

My copy of the RAVE shop manual for a 99 shows 722 to be torque converter slipping.

The mechanical shift lever moves a switch on the side of the transmission that signals your choice of gear to the transmission computer. It is the XYZ switch. If messed up, diconnected, broke wire, etc., the tranny computer won't know what you have asked it to do, and won't activate the correct valves.
