bad bcm

hello everyone i'm new to this site and i have a 97 range rover 4.0 and i'm also new to this suvs, well i have a problem with mine since i really dont used it or i could say never, my battery went dead try to jump start but didn't help so i got a new battery and now the windows dont work nether the sund roof, took it to a local range rover shop had them reset the computer for me and they told me that the bcm went bad and a new cost $1700 plus the cost to program, now that seems a lot of money for a simple computer, is there any other way to fixed this problem.

It is normal for the windows and stuff go out of wach and need to be reset, which is explained in your owners manual. Is everything OK now if not, what is still acting up?

i tried to reset them myself and nothing so i took it to a shop that works only on land/range rovers and they told me that me bcm was bad and that i needed to get a new but its about 1700 for it plus reprogram. i was just wondering if there a cheaper way to fixed this problem cause it just seems to much for a bcm, the shop also told me that this is a very common problem with this cars.[:@]

Try a hard reset (disconnect battery 5 minutes) the making sure the key works (battery) unlock car hitting the unlock button on key same time then lockcar hitting the lock button same time. ON OCCASION the latch takes a crap and it disables your ability to key reset (drivers door latch) scott
