Cruise Control Problem

Cruise Control Problem
I need some help diagnosing a cruise control problem. I push the button, I get nothing. I've already checked the hoses as has been previously suggested, and they're all fine. When I disconnect the hose and suck on the line, the diaphragm holds on the manifold. I've also checked the switch tied the brake pedal, and it seems to be working (holds vacuum when pushed in, relases when it's let out).
Is there a way take the vacuum pump out, put power to it, and make sure it works? These things run about $450, so i'd rather not hook it up backwards and fry it, but i'd like to test it.
Any other potential fixes?

RE: Cruise Control Problem
I'm not shure about how to test the pump but...
On mine the CC didn't work at first, but I had to check a relay for the headlights and found that almost all of the relays behind the kickpanels in front and under the front seats had vibrated loose if not out of the socket.
From where you are at, I'm sure this has already been covered.
There is an entire section in the manual about testing and fault diagnosis.

RE: Cruise Control Problem
Cruise control problem..I hear a click when I push
The stirring wheel switch, but nothing happens, then after trying more times I just don’t hear any thing any more.. I checked the rubber pipes in the engine compartment, vacuum chamber is perfect, and the rest of switches in stirring wheel are perfect. Plugs on converter are O.K. .Where should I look now?
