DIY Fuel Pump Replacement - Stuck!

Gents; New to the Ranger Rover side of the forum. I have a 12 Full Size RR, HSE. I get an occasional crank no start situation, and have pulled a Fuel Pump A Control Circuit Open P0627 Code.

I'm a novice but started by changeing the relay and it started but she did it again. The car actually stalled on me a few weeks back as if she was out of gas - prior to the above mentioned - so it seems I have the symptoms of a bad fuel pump.

So as of 10/6, carpet is up, covers are removed, harness is removed, fuel line is removed, twisty cap is removed... and now I'm staring at a white top of the fuel pump (i think) and it does not want to come out.

This is what I'm looking at - and it won't budge.

What's my move? Thanks guys.

Update - Well, looks like twisting the while ring brings the "pump" out... but now I'm really lost.

This white thing is NOT the pump... but I see the pump in there. Do i start disconnecting crap first or do I reach my hand in there and see if I can get the pump out??

What I'm looking at now...
