Default GAS MILEAGE

I need some help i filled the gas tank on saturday and just drove about 30 miles since then and my gas tanks is half full. I understand the RR's are gas gusslers but i'm getting about 3 to 4 miles per gallons how can i improve this. I'm sure this mpg is not normal.

Fuel leak...or someone's stealing your gas.

Also it would be helpful if you posted your vehicle, milage, year, and any other info you have such as past repairs, recent problems..etc

First, you might want to read up on calculate MPG.
Scarey when people pay for an expensive vehicle and can't even determine what their mileage is.

If you have a fuel leak, you would probably smell it. So if you're not smelling fuel, then you either 1.) did not completely fill up the tank (i.e. sometimes the fuel nozzlewill click off before it hasactually filled up the tank ...it hashappened to me before in rental cars or 2.) your gas gauge is crapping out and not reading accurately. That happens often to older vehicles but you didn't list your Rover's age so we don't know if that's a possibility. My 4.6 HSE would average 14-15 mpg based on my driving style ...3-4 mpg for yours is not correct. That's the gas mileage on a good day of like a Hummer H1 stretch limo rolling downhill

Default RE: GAS MILEAGE

go fill it up again and note gallons used and the miles.

possible reasons:

Did someone borrow your truck? My wife is famous for "running to the store" and 110 miles later she comes back after running her disabled friend to the county hospital after a cell call that I didn't know about.

You gotta wait for the gauge to come up...

Gas is expensive.

You got ripped off by the gas station.

Gas leak.

You didn't put the cap on tightly and kept making hard right turns. I did this in switzerland and lost 1/4 tank of gas quickly. I only discovered it when the smell and puddle was found at the local store.

You left your gas cap at the station.

Per his silence, I think he has figured out he posted to soon, that in fact he is not getting that mileage cause he never actually figure out what mileage he is getting.

Since New Years we have run to LAke Charles LA every saturday about 150 miles round trip. I can go twice on a tank and have 1/4 tank left. That's 350 miles at least, but I never let it get below 1/4 tank.

When we were in high school, as teenagers, we would ride around all night, even though gas was 30 cents a gallon, we got our fuel with a gas can and a 6' garden hose. But we could only get 2 gallons at a time, but it kept us going.

Ha ha ....great story! I bet there were some really pissed off people when they realized someone hijacked their fuel, even if it was only 30 cents a gallon ....jeeze, 30 cents a gallon. I can't imagine fuel that cheap!
