HELP!!! RR Radio Replacement

I am trying, rather my local shop is trying, to replace my factory cassette head unit with a Kenwood Excelon CD/MP3/Sirius head unit. They seem to be having trouble finding a mounting kit, specifically the trim bezel, to fit my Rangie!! Does anyone know where I can get a kit for a 99 Range Rover, or is there a kit for another car that will work?? Will a Discovery kit work? Help me guys!! I am going through MP3 and Sirius withdrawl!!!!

the Discovery does not use a mounting kit. Just a wiring kit. I'm in the process of going through all of the same troubles...but mine is dealing with the wiring and the factory amp not the mounting. You can check out crutchfield and see what they've got to offer. www.crutchfield.com

Crutchfield.com was one of the first places I looked. Their website says nothing is available for a 99 Range Rover. I have not called their 1-800 line.

I spoke with my local shop who will be doing the work Friday. Manager says there shouldn't be a problem. He says there is a Chevy kit that will work in a Range Rover and if that doesn't work, he can custom fabricate a kit. He said he has done Rovers in the past and that its tricky to get a new unit in, but its do-able.

He did say it will take some time. He is going to rewire the system to bypass the factory amp. Apparently, if you really crank the volume (which I do! ;) ) on an aftermarket deck, you can blow the factory amp.

I inititally went to Best Buy to have my install done. They wanted to charge me $68/hour to bypass the factory amp and individually wire each speaker. I told them to suck it.

Install was done last week! Turned out pretty good! I did, however, lose use of the factory CD changer and the steering wheel controls.

I had the same problem, nobody has diagrams or a harness. So I had my buddy who installs decks and systems for fun. He was able to just use trial and error to wire up my deck. We were able to bypass the stock sub fairly easily to hook up two 12's. Does suck to lose steering whel controls and changer.
