Inlet Air Temp Sensor
 

I have a '97 Land Rover Range Rover 4.0 and a scan of my 'Check Engine' reveals that I have an "Inlet Air Temperature Sensor Input that is above acceptable voltage". Can anyone help with additional info i.e. what does it mean, where is it located and is it something I can repair? Thanks for any help.:eek:

Update: Found the location on the side of the Air Filter box and easy to access. In searching for a replacement I found only 1 listed at RoversNorth for $136.45. Can anyone else offer any suggestion for other sources or . . . ?

You probably need a sensor. Usually the computer will compare ambient temp with inlet air temp or intake air temp. When the sensors fail they usually ready high. If it sees 50 degrees ambient temp and 250 degrees intake temp it will throw the code.

Thanks for everyone's help. I contacted RoverLandParts but they don't carry this item. I'll keep looking. Does anyone know if this is a difficult replacement task? It looks simple but I haven't gotten a closer look yet as to the disassemble proceedures, etc. Thanks again.:)
