P38 HO2Sensor
Took the P38 today to pick up some gardening supplies. First thing I notice is a misfire and the engine running very rough... guess that's what I get for neglecting her. Hooked her up to an OBDII scanner and got a flood of codes. Turns out one of the HO2S was causing a few of the faults... when I raised her the sensor sheathing was ripped to shreds. I love the poor design where the sensor wiring is falling on/near the drive shaft. Looks like all the rubbing against it ate right through two of the wires. At least it was an easy fix, now to fix the check engine light...

Did you solder it back together?

Clear the codes and see what current ones are coming up, get back to us with the 4 digit fault codes numbers and lets get you running right again.

The actual unit was fine thankfully. Just had to split, splice, and wrap the wires together with electrical tape. Luckily there was quite a bit of extra wire hanging so it was a cinch.
And i'm no longer getting any codes. I was being being a bit spacey and hadn't reset the codes after the repair. |
