Default Help a newbie get in a range rover :)

Hey guys, saw these on the internet and was wondering what kind of things to look out for when buying it. What are the usual gremlins that go wrong with them and such? Also is the valve chatter normal or is it a ticking time bomb? Thanks

Also, Which one would you go for if it were you?

Personally I'd probably avoid both. The 1991 islikely the lesser of the two evils; has coil spring suspension, so no EAS related worries. Either would probably be an okay weekend project vehicle if you're a fairly adept mechanic, otherwise they've both got the potential to be very costly and undependable pieces of yard art. Head gaskets seem to be one of the more popular problems with these vehicles. Guess it really comes down to the vehicle's intended purpose and your mechanical skill level. If you're looking for an inexpensive but rugged trail vehicle you might do better to look at something like a classic Jeep Cherokee. If you're after a daily-driver, get a later model Rover that's still covered under an extended warranty.

I agree with the prior post. Too many miles and possible problems. Do you intend for your purchase to be a daily driver?
