Reputable Warranties for Range Rovers

Hey folks,

I'm looking for reputable warranty companies who could provide coverage for a 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged with 31000 miles. This car is for sale by a land rover dealer, and is not certified, but still under the factory warranty until 50000 miles/4yrs. I got a good price on the vehicle (~$40000) but the finance guy was really pushing an extended warranty offered by the dealer (called prism i think) and it provided coverage to 85000 miles/or 5 yrs. It would add an extra $4100 to the total, and the GAP insurance would add another $700. The combination of the two coverages was so much more money that I decided to do hold off on the purchase and do my homework to be certain I am getting a fair deal. I would appreciate if anyone could provide some insight as to their experiences with purchasing extended warranties for ranges.

Are the RR sports selling fast? Cause if they aren't, just wait, they'll get desperate and eventually certify it just to get rid of it. The dealership where I'm at does it all the time. They'll get an older one and want a rediculous price, and then lower it after about 2 weeks and then again in another 2 and then certify. When they certify it is when the vehicle sells fast, so be ready. If I were you, I would hold off for a bit and see what they do.

I certainly agree with the above, there is no reason they shouldn't certify that vehicle based on its mileage. They're really trying to stick it to you on that warranty too, $4100 is ridiculous. Maybe $1800 for that kind of coverage, tops. If you're in love with the car then buy it, you can typically add a warranty at a decent price up until the factory one expires.
