Suspension conversions, coil over kits
 

I'm wondering if anyone has ever done a suspension conversion on a Range rover HSE, either current model or the previous model. I heard the air suspension is a bit mushy and problem ridden. I'd like to know if there are any good Coilover kits or otherwise to give you that firm ride. I am considering a LR HSE 04 -06. I also like the pre 2003 models. Does anyone know which models were designed by BMW. :confused:

I have never done a coil conversion myself and honestly I do not intend to do so. The only reason I can see to do that is if you have such a messed up EAS that it is your only option. The air suspension is really top notch and while it can have it's own temper tantrums now and then it is a great ride.

I think the BMW design started wtihe the MK3 in 2003, someone else can chime in and clrify that for you as well.

I drive a P38 due to the fact that I like the destinct personality of it and there seem to not be as many on the road as the newer models. The air suspension always scares people too so you can find them for a great deal as well.

I say if you find the model you like and the suspension works, then wait until it causes you issues before trying to change it out.

I have not done the coil conversion on mine, but I've heard its not that difficult to do, and usually doesn't cost to much if you have a mechanic do it. Personally, I would just repair the system, the L322 RRs tend to have a very good EAS and it might just be something small.

Mark three conversion kits ride like crap but arnott makes a cartridge for the air bag or remans if you want them for around 400 a piece. dealer ones are around 1200

I agree with earlier people to wait until you need to do it. The eas is a really cool feature and can freak out on you, which cause many people to do the coilover but from what I've read it usually can be repaired for much less if done at an independant mechanic, avoid the stealership like the plague. and remember with a land rover... if it ain't leakin it must be empty ;)
