RE: TRANNY INFOR HELP !

Your truck is considered a full time four wheel drive at any speed. Doesn't mean all four wheels have traction but all are ready for traction as the truck senses it needs it through the ABS system.

hanivw - you may try search on "land rover rave cd"
I just read last week that you can get it free on the internet.
It's a cd w/the full land rover line of shop manuals, descriptions, wiring diagrams, etc.
including owner's manuals.
I bought it last year for my discovery, but it also covers my p38 RR - '96

RE: TRANNY INFOR HELP !

Hanivw -
Your transfer case has planetary gears driving the rear wheels, a viscous coupling driving the front.
(a fluid filled clutch)
If I'm not mistaken, the viscous coupling has a high rate of slippage until you start pushing it (offroad, driving like a lunatic, etc.)
Once it heats up it starts grabbing - works nicely, hence no diff lock needed.
