Transer case fluid
What kind of transfer case fluid do you use in a 2000 range rover hse and how many qt thanks cruz

If dry, 5 pints, if refill, 4.2 pints. Both of these are US measure. If in the UK, also pints for all the lads helping out.
The RAVE shop manual says Dexron III ATF for the transfer box, this is different from Discos. |

Yes, but viscosity of gear oil is a lot "diff"erent than transmission oil. Not uncommom for people with older TC in a D1 to run 85W150. Perhaps a pro will rest his wrench for a moment and comment.

Didn't know for sure I had to go out and get a rebuild one so dont know what was in it so does it matter if its trans fluid or gear oil thanks cruz

For the diffs, an 85/140 gear oil is the new HD standard.
As for the t/case, I believe Rover changed there recomondations over to gear oil also, if so, use the same 85/140 be it regular oil or synthetic is your choice but I always recommend synthetic for better wear protection. |
All Land Rover Borg Warner Tboxes use Dexron3

Thanks Guys for all the help
