Angry 2 problems need help?

Hi All,

Need help with two problems with my P38 4.0 SE 1996 with 154000 miles.

1. I have a high idle.
2. A clicking noise that comes from the eas box area.

These have been like this now for a year and don't really bother me, but intend keeping the car a little longer now and thought i might try and fix it.

With the high idle i have changed the maf sensor and idle control sensor but still idles high, it idles ok at first and then starts to rise, it stops at 2000rpm, was told it could be a engine temp sensor that could be doing it, but don't what to buy one and end up wasting money so any help with this would be good.

The clicking noise was there when i got car, i have changed valve block and electrics that attach to it, but did not change pressure valve, all air bags have been changed so she rises as she should sometime takes a but longer but still goes to standard ride hight, other times you hear the clicking noise and she loses hight, could this be a faulty height sensor, sometimes when you open a car door starts the clicking noise and she loses hight as well, so getting to the stage where i am lost to know want is doing this, so help would be good for this as well.

Sorry for going on so long about this faults.

You should have an OBDII diagnostic port. Plug in a scanner, and look at coolant temp, which is driven by the coolant sensor. Should start out at ambient temp or close. But it should not read way off, like -40F, which is the value I get if I unplug mine. The ECU will increase fuel to warm up engine.

You can also ohm meter the value of the ECT. Should not read "open".
