Advice re Disco 2 purchase

See our tech area for https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...scovery-21328/ and a side by side comparison of the D1 and D2.
Common problems are:
Overheating, after driving short distance. Heat gauge can't be trusted, the computer makes it show 50% from 130 - 240F. Use a scanner for accurate temps. Head gaskets can make sound of bubbles in water pipes under dash.
Various codes, but owners have been known to paint over check engine light. Again, scanner will tell what is going on.
Ticking sound, after the engine warms up. Caused by several things, one of which is a cylinder sleeve moving up/down, goes away with speed.
Front drive shaft if oem will fail, has sealed grease joints. A rebuild in our tech area, or aftermarket shaft.
It is best to have a mechanic make a pre-purchase inspection.
