Charger Help
 

I have Both these chargers:
and SC4 - Schumacher Electric

Both will charge my battery to 7.2 volts and then go in to mantain mode and say the battery is at 100% They will not charge any more. I have a yellow top optima battery. Battery was bought july 5 2016.

What am i missing? Is the Battery bad? Both chargers bad?

An Optima Battery that doesn't work...SHOCKING!!! IMHO Optima = :poop:
Re: the chargers be sure they are in AGM Mode. Are you reading the final charge voltage with a meter or just the charger? Also try charging the battery with the battery cables disconnected.

Re: the battery, what voltage do you read with a meter (both with the truck running and not)? And to test just take the battery to Advance, AZ, Napa wherever and get it load tested for free. I'm surprised you got almost a year out of an Optima. Good Luck!

I have the charger in AGM mode. With charger disconnected and battery out of truck I read 7.6 volts. I have not had any charging problems with the truck. I drained the battery bc I left the key in the run position and forgot to turn it off.

So optima is a crap battery? How so?

We've used optima red top gel batteries for years in the military. The trick to properly charging optimas is to have a battery charger that "trickle" charges the optima battery.
These special chargers we had cost $3000 and could charge 4 optimas at once.
