coolant leaking from the rear of the motor
Hello I'm new to this forum i have a 1990 range rover county 3.9 L. my wife took my rover to work today because someone T boned her car over the weekend. she called me from work and tells me the rover was leaking coolant bad. so i put my truck on my tow truck and dropped it off at her job and picked up the rover. when i got home i put water in it started it up and no leaks so i left it run for awhile when it reached running temp it started leaking from the back of the motor. i thought it might have a busted heater hose so i took the hoses off and bypassed them. put water in it started it up no leaks. when it reached running temp it started to leak from the rear of the motor again. i tried to look down from the top of the motor but i can't see anything. so i looked at it from under the rover and it is leaking from the top of the motor. but i can't see where it's coming from. it can't be a freeze out plug because it would leak when i start it up or when i put water in it. so is there a hose or something that I'm missing at the back of the motor or do i have to take the top half of the motor apart

Sounds like a gasket - could be head, but seems like you would have more issues with that. The valley pan gasket under the intake manifold might be the one. Since it is a "valley" stuff goes out the back. You would have to get to the valley pan gasket on the way to head gaskets anyway. Not sure if you have enough space to look in with a mirror, an inspection camera, or just poke a cam corder in the front (seems like a lot of room on my D1). Or some paper towels and see if they come out wet. Don't want to start such a project without a good look through the RAVE, exploded diagrams, etc.
