Intake Hose install
 

ok, need your help please! During the process of changing out my plugs and wires a couple of weeks ago I noticed that connection from my intake duct to the IAVC hose had snapped completely off. So I just purchased this air intake duct with the two cylinder attachments connected off of some guy on Ebay for $33 and received it on my doorstep yesterday. Upon opening the box I noticed that the hose was leaking some sort of oil (you can see the oil in the pics). Now to my understanding, the only thing going thru this thing is air.... So my question is, should i remove the (2) cylinder attachments and replace them with my pre-existing cylinders on the broken duct and clean out the oil or can I just install the whole duct (w the two cylinders w oil leaking from them) as is? I get the feeling i got screwed by this guy...

Just use some degreaser, clean out the hose and install it.

well my concern is that the may foul something up. After cleaning the interior of the duct and setting it out to dry I noticed that the oil was leaking from inside the cylinders.....are these cylinders hollow? where i can just remove them from the duct and clean the inside of them? and why would there be oil inside of them to begin with?

You must be talking about the air baffles, if so, I don't know it they can be removed or not.
Just clean out as much as you can and install it. What little oil that leaks into the engine won't hurt a thing. Make sure to clean out the t/body before installing the new hose.

ok, great thx...thats all i needed to know. I did a t/body cleaning a week ago (and swallowed a good amount of carb cleaner)...it should be good.
