Default paint - wavy panel

I wet sanded and polished, got rid of the factory orange peel. But when I look at the paint, the panels are wavy. This is a picture of the reflection in my quarter panel, but all the panels have some waves. The tree in the middle is rippled. It's not surface scratches or orange peel. I'm pretty sure this won't just buff out. I suspect the primer was never flat at the factory, and this could only be fixed if I started over with guide coat and blocked it. I'm not going to, but I want to understand better. Maybe someday I'll have a car with good paint, but not if I can't even recognize the difference.

I imagine this is just because Land Rover didn't care. Are the newer ones better? What do they do differently at the factory to improve this? I mean, I know at Bentley they have guys sanding, and sanding, and sanding, and sanding. But how do they improve on this at Land Rover?

Um thats a well known problem. you paint it then because your looking at it you notice how not straight it is. its normal for a car to have bends and ripples. if you want perfect you have to do the work.
