Default rust

I just bought a 1994 Discovery. Body is in very good shape the only rust I found is at the top of the rear wheel wells. Is this common? I plan to clean then epoxy rubber or something then undercoat.

Depends on salt use or beach thong patrol in the past life of the vehicle. Near me, it is salty mud from the tidal swamps.

Suggest you search recent threads started by slanginsanjaun, he has posted pix of a complete rebuild of the rear floor pan with diamond plate aluminum, and a variety of special sealer and insulation, his was eaten away at just about all the corners.

You will find this to be common, you should spend some more time under the truck cause there is most likely more rust there. As for treating it, need to be more agressive about totally removing the rust the treating or it will come back faster and worse then before.

They all rust in that same spot, that is where the sheet metal underbody mates with the aluminum body skins.
When dissimilar metals touch they rust and corrode very fast.
