Spraying Coolant...help!
1 Attachment(s)
Hi Everyone,
I need your help in identifying what part in the pic the coolant is spraying out from. Can anyone tell me? I love my rover but this comes at a bad time. Any assistance the forum members can provide me would be deeply appreciated. In the pic the coolant is spraying a stead small stream and its coming out right underneath the air intake large hose. |
There is a gasket there, simple to replace, it pre-heats air before entry to intake, if you need to drive the car to get parts you can take off those two hoses and connect / splice them together with plumbing parts. Intake plenum....
This does not cool the engine or operate the heater/defrost, but it does use coolant. I guess in an emergency, you could remove the two ends of the hoses, take a plastic ink pen or other small tube, cram them together, use the existing hose clamps and some duct tape, and limp back to civilization. Might be a good idea to carry some pipe bypass b-a-r-b fittings in the backwoods. |
You need a throttle body heater plate kit. I just did this on my DII last weekend. I got the kit from the dealer, less than $40. It took about 20 mins to change it out. Just be sure to clean the mating surface well when you put the new one on.

sure, disconnect the two hose and label them right and left, now remove the three bolts that hold the cover on, pull the cover off, clean up the area, put on the new gasket and cover, thighten the bolts.
