Hi- I know you asked this a few years ago- but I've just retro fitted air con to my 1999 discovery td5 auto and I have the exact same issue- instrument panel lights, clock and switch illumination are permanently on- everything else works perfectly- I searched on the internet and found this post so thought I'd ask- how did you get around this issue? Hope you're still around to help, cheers Dave.

8 years and exactly one post. I don't think he's likely to answer.

there were a few wires that are pinned in different locations on the dash harness ( cant recall exactly which ones) .. but when i compared the wiring from the 1999 to the 2002 i found them and changed them around . then it was working properly

Thanks defcrazy- really appreciate the reply- any more advice/help you can offer on which wires maybe pinned differently on my new (2002) aircon dash harness compared to the original 1999 non aircon dash harness- where would you suggest I start looking please. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks, Dave.

Hi defcrazy- thanks for your help and advice- it's all sorted now- on the fuse box connector (white plastic multiplug) the old (1999 non-air con) dash harness has a purple wire and a red/orange wire in different positions to the newer (2002 air-con) dash harness, so I swapeped them around in the multiplug and now everything works- worth waiting 8 years for an answer to your original question!! Thanks again- so good to have got it fixed- cheers, Dave.
