Ticking noise 2010 Range Rover

Hello,

Just registered to the forum and it's my first post. Hope you guys can help me out.

I just picked up a 2010 Range Rover full size 5.0 luxury edition with 45k miles. About a week ago I noticed a ticking noise in the cabin. The ticking speeds up with the RPMs in drive and in neutral. I was told it was the injectors since it's direct injected they are much louder. I went through the engine with a stethoscope and everything sounds normal and with the windows down you can't hear it at all. . I have a 2011 Jaguar XF with the same motor and I don't get this ticking noise. is this something that is normal to this model/engine ?

Thanks!

Leo

a "ticking" sound is never normal. People try to pass it off as the norm' because they are either too lazy or too incompetent to track-down the offending unit, OR they have not thrown enough parts at it. As you said, you have the exact same engine in another vehicle with no noise, so stick with your gut.

I hope that someone else who has successfully fixed the issue you speak of will find your post. I would suggest also posting on RRForums but I boycott those a$$holz.

There have been reports of the cam that drives the high pressure fuel pumps on the bottom of the motor, I believe drivers side can cause a ticking noise. Try your stethoscope in that area.
