Default Tire Monitor not working

I recently ran into the ditch while picking my dropped cell phone off the floor in my 2006 Range Rover. After I got all the mud off the rim and determining that it was not bent, I have gotten a fault code saying that my left front tire is not being monitored for air pressure and my tire light stays on. Any ideas on what might be wrong. Are these tire monitors something I can easily replace? I hate taking this to the dealer for something dumn like this.

Go to the dealer, aren't you under warranty?

well replacing the tpms is not an "easy task" unless you have the right equipment to remove a tire and have the knowledge of putting it back on w/o ruining the sensor upon re-installation. However double check your tyre pressures in all 4 and drive it at a cosistant speed for 15-20 mins (if avail) that should clear the codes. If that does not work, you can always change the position of the wheel (like front left to rear right ) to see if the fault code is still there *wds is needed to read the codes. but since it works on a radio frequency chances are you damaged the sensor and it needs to be replaced.

Thanks for the info guys. I think your right, the sensor might be bad. Tried checking tire pressure and driving to clear the codes, no luck. Off to the dealership. All the more reason to link my blackberry for handsfree driving...live and learn? Thanks again.

I've been driving Land Rovers for around 35 years and have driven in to many a ditch and never had a problem with my tire monitor not working from it.

BTW, I hope you learned your lesson from doing something so stupid as picking up your cell phone from the floor while you were driving. Lucky it was a ditch you hit and not a kid on a bike.

Just an after thought, if you are headed to the dealership, and your vehicle is equipped with bluetooth, have them check the operation of the sytem. There has been a few issues with them/.

also the reciever for the tpms antenna could have come loose causing the fault light, located behind the inner wheel whell on the vehicle.
